What do you do under high stress, and you feel you cant stop making it worse?

Post here if you are just starting out with your mindfulness practice. Mindfulness is a really difficult concept to get your head around at first, and it might be that you would benefit from some help from others.

Its one thingt o let go without stress.

But for me a bit more stress and suddenly it becomes twice/many times as hard to do. I get more unconscious, my self talk races, the negative feelings are stronger obviously its just everything much worse and more difficult to do.

Then im not longer able to do it properly in this situation, and I cant even NOT DO in this situation like sometimes I cant even give up and come back to it alter. (thats when I usually take a shot of drink lol)

Any tips (im quite obsessive)

Thanks bro!

You keep returning to your chosen anchor. Breath is a good one. It is extremely difficult to feel stressed/angry/overwhelmed when we are are focussed on the natural easy rhythm of the in-breath and out-breath. When thoughts start pulling at your attention again, come back to the breath again. Eventually, this becomes second nature. Be with your breath. Not thinking about breath. Simply noticing the sensations. Not controlling the breath. Just allowing breath to come and go, almost as if it is breathing itself. Not striving to breathe in any particular way. Just breathing.
This is not difficult. It just requires practice. Rather like learning to ride a bicycle. At first, we keep falling off. Then it becomes second nature. Don't be afraid of falling off. It's part of the process. Those who have never stumbled have never soared.
