Let me introduce myself. I’m Chontida Poonpipat, a Thai based in the UK and currently writing my Master Dissertation on Mindfulness online community (an ethnography from an anthropological point of view). :D :D

I personally enjoy meditation. However, my interest in the group is twofold as I’d like to share my concerns, questions and fieldwork. Finally, I am interested in what you think about Mindfulness and what people do at Mindfulness community.

Also, it would be great if anyone would like to talk about this. You can reply in this post or send me an email at chontida.poonpipat@durham.ac.uk.

Ethical approval has been granted by my Durham University, and I can send you further information.

regards Chon

Hi Chon,

An interesting idea. My degree was in sociology but that was in the early 1970s. I think I have lived sociology ever since. I analyse every situation I find myself in through a sociological lens. I would love to do an ethnography study on footballers playing for my home town team Stockport County with a view to getting a picture of the levels of social, cultural and economic capital as this is a team that is not in the football league and their players do not have the economic capital to invest in social and cultural capital when their playing days are over. Alas I am too old to have the credibility to do this now (69).

I am more than happy to support what you are doin and will drop you an e mail in the next few days.

Best wishes on a successful study

Peter
