I'm Helen. Quirky-Friend is a new sceen name for me but I love it because I'm quirky - I've got some neurological deficits and I am not exactly a conforming kind of person. Friends is the other short name for Quakers, and I've been one of those for 25 years. I'm blessed because my partner is also a Quaker, which is unusual as we are a very small community.
I've had a long history of depression, a recent acute bout combined with anxiety...I'm recovering but its damn hard work. My partner also has depression and he's having a rough time...he also has joint custody of his 14 year old daughter, so I'm having to learn to balance life with a teen in the mix. His ex wife is openly hostile to me adding a layer of complications.
I'm a health professional, valued in my role as a project manager, and I'm working on renegotiating my contract to include some clinical work each week to avoid deskilling.
Outside work, I am a crafter (knitting, sewing, crochet and dying wool), and I have a wonderful cat who is very grounding. I know I can make change successfully, as I've trained him to walk on a harness at age 8 (human years)...
