Mindfulness of Thoughts & Anxiety

Post here if you are just starting out with your mindfulness practice. Mindfulness is a really difficult concept to get your head around at first, and it might be that you would benefit from some help from others.

Hi there

I would like some guidance here as I know even this is a worrying thought about mindfulness (am i doing it right) but just wanted to know the amount you need to bring yourself back to the present moment outside of formal meditation practice. I have got the hang of mindfulness with quite a lot of physical feelings, but where I am learning the most is thoughts.

I have found myself increasingly aware of my anxious thoughts outside of formal meditation - and just noticing them (as its always the same ones that appear when anxious) makes them dissipate. I am fine going by and just noticing them, i.e. having this awarness, as I become less attached to them. What i struggle with is when I notice the thought and bring myself back to feeling sensations or the task at hand, it feels too forceful to do that Over and over, especially when anxious to keep bringing myself back constantly actually sends me a bit more into a spin than if i just notice and let them dissipate, like clouds floating by.

Any words of advice on this?
