Never been one for resolutions. You just end up beating yourself up when you fall short.

I think that is the point Gareth. That mindfulness can reduce or remove the desire to set lots of goals that we almost always fail to reach and then beat ourselves up about. That is why is makes a change from the usual 'how to improve' yourself articles that are everywhere in the new year.
