Hello all, I'm Gillian and just wanted to introduce myself. I was so pleased to find this forum (which I think I made my way to after following a twitter link). Having recently completed a mindfulness course online (it was the most practical thing for me at the time and provided me with a bit of a lifeline back then, to be honest) I then read JKZ's Full Catastrophe Living, during which I had a new light-bulb moment on pretty much every page! I hit the proverbial wall a few months ago and knew it was time to examine how to handle the daily stresses of life (parenthood, career worries, health issues) better. It's a journey I'm so glad to have commenced and am trying to be patient with myself. I saw a counsellor last week who I hadn't had a session with for about 6 weeks and she noticed how much more clearly I was thinking. The phrase 'peeling an onion' sounds a bit cliched, but that's what I feel like I'm doing at the moment. Peeling the onion, one layer at a time, no hurry, occasional teary moments I'm especially looking forward to reading more on the mindful parenting thread and generally keeping inspired and motivated to keep up the practice. It's a never-ending onion that is continuously adding layers, but just to occasionally glimpse that beautiful stillness inside now and again is enough.
