Hi Folks
I have been struggling with chronic fatigue for a long while and was yesterday (finally) diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.
Sometimes I find meditation to be fairly neutral in terms of the energy it takes, at other times I have to stop half way through and its all I can do to crawl into bed.
Does anyone else experience meditation to sometimes be a fairly tiring activity?

Meditation energy sapping?
I hope the diagnosis hasn't been too upsetting. I have friends with ME and almost all found their diagnosis a relief. I suffer fatigue related to my brain haem and do find meditation sometimes tires me out. When I was taught about fatigue management one of the big surprises for me was that emotional fatigue can be just as physically draining as going for a walk. Paying attention can be mentally draining sometimes so I guess it makes sense to feel it in the body too.

Thank you for your response
No it's not really been upsetting at all. I am just a little nervous that the recent recovery I have been experiencing won't continue. I just really need to hunker down and look after myself. I guess that's where mindfulness comes in really handy as it helps me to recognise what I should or should not be doing.

God himself culminates in the present moment, and will never be more divine in the lapse of all the ages - Henry David Thoreau, Walden: or, Life in the Woods
Totally.
Fatigue management was a huge hurdle even with intensive rehab until I discovered mindfulness. The team looking after me couldn't believe how much that changed me.

You can meditate lying down if you so wish. If ever I am super fatigued then I might get into bed and just try and stay with my breathing or some peaceful music. Sometimes I fall to sleep mind, but I don't see that as a bad thing.
