I was chatting to Jon and Gareth the other night and we mentioned we hadn't seen you for a little while and that we hoped you were OK. I was going to drop you a message to say hi but you beat me to it
I think you are right about finding additional silent practice a benefit along side Headspace and it also makes sense to me that motivation will change because we aren't static beings. I just did day 10 of Take 15 and am signed up for the full year, it will be great to have a buddy to share progress with if you would like to?

It's always nice to hear that your absence is noticed! I still come her periodically but don't always post - and as I've written about before, sometimes I go a few days or a week or two losing sight of my meditation and focusing on other things before I bring myself back. I'd say overall though, these past few months I have meditated more and been more mindful than I have any other time in my life, so that feels good.
And yeah I would love to do a buddy system with the Headspace program! I am on day 13 of take 15 so we are very close. That might help me stay on the program because I tend to lose focus sometimes. I think it would be great to keep in touch about it. Should we do it on a thread or through private message?

As we only have a few days left, would you like to start a new thread entitled Take 20 when you start and we can keep track of our thoughts and experiences there?
Then any other Headspace users now or in the future will be able to access the threads easily?
I know that having Steve as a buddy on the (epic) Wild Elephant book thread has been a real motivation to stick with the book week in and week out. I suspect I would have lost sight and/or motivation but making the commitment to update every Sunday has really helped me keep focused.

My motivation is just to be more accepting of life and enjoy it as it is.
I also worry about the what ifs too much so I hope it will reduce that. When it worry is really bad I suffer anxiety and when the anxiety is bad I get depressed. It would be good if building awareness I could stop the spiral of negativity.
It does seem to help I just need to do it more.

I found that as I get more and more aware of what I am thinking, the easier it is to stop unwanted or negative thoughts. The tricky bit sometimes is being an observer to my thoughts rather than just jumping straight in there and being involved with them.
I have made a friend who is helping me. It's my internal voice. I use it to comfort myself, reassure myself, and use it to cast out the thoughts I do not want in my head. Its my best friend at the moment!
Maybe you could have such a friend?

I tend to jump in too often too! I am getting more aware of it now and imagine myself to be at the side of a motor way watching the traffic go by (as in traffic being my thoughts) that seems to help, plus focusing on the breath, the most important thing is to go easy on myslef and not get annoyed when the thoughts keep creeping in, theres no such thing as a "bad meditation" its better than none at all.
