I find a lot of peace in noticing the little things like that too Jon. I posted before about standing at my usual bus stop and hearing a noise I couldn't place. Eventually I realised it was the leaves rustling. For years I had stood there and never heard that noise. It was tiny but still profound for me.
I used to say my mind just wasn't capable of meditation or even sitting still for a few moments without doing something or thinking about something but that has changed over time. The brain is a wonderful thing, mine exploded but with help it's not done a bad job of not just mending itself but sort of improving itself and allowing me to be open to the idea of mindfulness.

“Being mindful means that we take in the present moment as it is rather than as we would like it to be.”
