Present vs Future

Post here if you have been practising for a while, and you are starting to get your head around what this is all about. Also post here if you are a long-term practitioner with something to say about the practice.

Hehe, this slapped the Tao Te Ching straight back into me, thanks! That's how powerful this forum is.

I just realised what happened...following a dark time in my life December 2011 - say April/May 2012, meditation was my saviour that pulled me through. The next six months I must have become somewhat dependent on the comfort it provided, because that was it...I created the daily ritual of specific meditations. And it's like you say, I can't tell you why. I AM a compassionate person by nature. I have my side when I'm a complete a-hole too haha...but recognise this...and today I feel so fresh and confident just knowing this about myself and knowing my capabilities.

Last night after I wrote what I did...guess what, I had meditation planned. But I was extremely tired...I have been doing a lot of physical work and travelling around recently and have been run down over the past week. So, instead of meditating as PLANNED, I decided to jump in bed and watch some telly just to get some real rest and sleep. Today, as I say, I feel on top of the world...I've not felt that in over a week.

Just a prime example of what you have said...and it reminded me...that old Bruce Lee quote that keeps popping up in front of me: "Be like water"

Thanks to all for contributing, I think I could be fixed again. Yay!

You can always be mindful of exactly how and what you are planning :) but I think the answer is compassion...sympathy for when you forget, sympathy for when you worry about forgetting, and sympathy for when you do plan.
