Hi JK7
Welcome to the forum.
I sometimes find using music, a meditation stool and lighting some insense helpful in focusing my mind, other times I just do it where I am.
As Gareth says the key is finding what's right for you and what's right can change .

Hi JK7,
Welcome you sound a bit like I was when I first joined here, I was a rite mess. I'll be totally honest, i haven't been meditating like I was, partly because I was feeling better, tho I know this needs to be a lifestyle change for me, BUT I am using mindfulness every day. Even if it's only for a few minutes at a time. TBH, it's very helpful, and at the start, probably as much as I can manage at a time, but that is what works for me, and thats the important bit, to find what works for you.
Rara, yeah it was a world peace cafe. I've not got around to plucking up the courage yet. I've had sick kids at home :/ but I think you might be right about going from there. The prices for local to me courses of mindfulness :/ I can't believe the price tbh, i'l just keep doing my thing I think and reading that book I got!
Thanks so much for all the replies, I really appreciate it

Hi BigPinkFan and welcome to our forum!
I too have suffered from anxiety and depression. The suggestions from the others on additional resources will be really helpful to you. One book I found really helpful when I started my practice is "The Mindful Way through Depression: Freeing Yourself from Chronic Unhappiness" by Mark Williams, John Teasdale, Zindel Segal, Jon Kabat-Zinn. It is available in hardcopy, e-book and audio book. The audio book also has some audio guided meditations from John Kabat-Zinn which I am still using today. I found this book to be a wealth of information and it helped me a great deal to understand my condition and how mindfulness can help. The substance of the book is very easy to read and digest and I found times where I couldn't put the book down and had to keep reading. I highly recommend it especially if you are suffering. It is a great starting point.
I wish you well in your journey and I hope you can find the peace you deserve through mindfulness.
