What is the eight week course?

Post here if you are just starting out with your mindfulness practice. Mindfulness is a really difficult concept to get your head around at first, and it might be that you would benefit from some help from others.

I have heard it mentioned in a fair few posts on here but I'm not sure what it is.

So far I have been using headspace exclusively to learn mindfulness , and now here of course , but am I missing something important ?

Hi Innerchatter,
The course is not the only way to learn about mindfulness but the best way, in my opinion. Over a period of weeks it provides a solid grounding in the practice. I'd highly recommend it.
Cheers,
Jon

Hi there,

The course I found most useful is Mark Williams - Finding Peace in a Frantic World. You'll find the book on amazon. It's 8 weeks and includes guided meditations from tracks on an accompanying CD as well as other tasks to help you be more mindful throughout the day.

'Is it a book or something?'

It can be learned from a book. I would also recommend Finding Peace In A Frantic World by Mark Williams and Danny Penman.
A better option might be to find a local teacher or to do an online course.
Best wishes,
Jon

thanks chaps, sorry for the late reply, its been a busy week. I have brought the mark williams book, i am working through the first week. So far I'm finding to be very good. its good to get a bit more understanding one things, that was not really coming across in headspace.

Hi leosmith,

Why don't you paste this into a new topic? It will probably get some more attention.
