Something strange happened to me

Post here if you have been practising for a while, and you are starting to get your head around what this is all about. Also post here if you are a long-term practitioner with something to say about the practice.

Hey guys!
I practice mindfulness for about 5 months now, to cope with my generalized anxiety disorder and my depression.
But something new happened.
I felt it, from a defined moment (and this sensation is here with me until now), that the reality sunddely changed.

Everything is more real than the reality I've experienced so far in my life.
Everything is 'brighter'/'sharper', the sensations changed, my vision of the world changed, I'm feeling a little bit anxious about that because this is too new for me! Its like I'm in a different reality.

I know this sounds crazy, but im wondering what just happened to me.
This happened to someone else?

Any insights?

Edit 1: I'm experiencing an enormous energy, creativity and a will to produce something new in my life!

Hi,

I haven't experienced that, although the decrease in depression and anxiety I felt with mindfulness certainly left me with more time on my hands rather than worrying about things, and even trying to think of things to worry about !

With this free time mindfulness gave me, it certainly gave me an urge to get up off my backside and be more productive and creative with my time. I`m learning CPR and first aid this week !!

Good for you!! Ive had short bouts of this phenomena. Its wonderful! Im afraid for me they didnt last so long, at most 2-3h. This is Great progress for you!! Keep on meditating!

There are several experiences people experience. However, it is advised to be cautious that we not to latch on to them no matter how good they are.
This is because all experiences no matter how good or how bad are all temporary. Attaching to them or desiring them would cause suffering.
Therefore, it is advised that when our mind is calm, we should use it to see how feelings, experiences, thoughts, sensations, etc arise and pass away to see impermanence in everything. This leads to wisdom and acceptance of all arising and passing phenomena which would ultimately cut our habitual tendencies to run after good experiences and run away from bad experiences.
This wisdom helps cure depression :)

Caution: The more we cling to good experiences, more we suffer when they pass away!! :|

- When we use meditation or mindfulness to cure depression (kind of suffering), I think its helpful that when our mind is calm during meditation, we investigate suffering and its causes.
- The strength of looking at suffering face-to-face and its causes comes from the mind-set we have. The mind-set should be to "know the truth" of suffering and avoid its causes. So as to end suffering.
- On the other hand, if we just wish to use meditation to get high on some experience during meditation, it is just temporary and can not release us from our suffering.
