Question on how mindfulness throughout the day affects the length of sleep at night

Hello.

I was reading the power of now, and in the book it was mentioned that we spend a lot of our vital energy throughout the day on unnecessary thinking.

Therefore, if we are more mindful throughout the day and avoid unnecessary thinking, would we require less sleep at night because we do not need to restore as much vital energy?

Thoughts?

Since taking up a mindfulness practice, I wouldn't say I sleep less. I've always slept for around 8 hours. However, I do feel much more rested these days when I awake. So maybe the quality of my sleep has improved as a result of regular mindfulness practice. One thing I can be sure about is that I spend much less time worrying these days. In fact, I hardly worry at all.
