The "writing meditation". Opinions.

Post here if you are just starting out with your mindfulness practice. Mindfulness is a really difficult concept to get your head around at first, and it might be that you would benefit from some help from others.

What do you think about the writing meditation?

It is an exercice based on Julia Cameron's book, The Artist Way, that consists on writing whatever it comes from your mind for some minutes. You just don't stop writing, reflecting your thoughts without hurry, just letting things be like they are.

You can find some links about the subject if you search on Google "writing meditation".

I tried it and, at the moment, it seems to help me to observe my thoughts. Do you think it is a good idea?

Ah yes. I am familiar with Cameron's book.
It sounds more like automatic writing (as popularised by William Burroughs amongst others) than anything to do with mindfulness. But, if it feels good, do it, I guess.
Cheers,
Jon
