Meditating with focus outside self, eg on nature?

Post here if you are just starting out with your mindfulness practice. Mindfulness is a really difficult concept to get your head around at first, and it might be that you would benefit from some help from others.

I don't think we lose it, we just lose touch with it. I think I am back in touch with my wonderment :D

Yes, that's right. I'm sat on a beach now watching the waves crashing up the pebbles, 20 minutes now. It's only the sound of the phone that's got me to break off. ☺

"I don't think we lose it, we just lose touch with it."

How true that is.
Mindfulness can be an excellent gateway back to that sense of everyday wonder, but it doesn't always take people the whole way there.
A book like Stephan Bodian's Beyond Mindfulness does a good job of picking up where mindfulness could be said to leave off. Highly recommended to people who have already got a firm grounding in mindfulness practice.
Cheers,

I've also read about us being mindful as kids, but that was not what I referred to, when saying "when I was younger". I was referring to things I have done as an adult, but many years ago. For example, I had a spot by the sea, where I usually went alone every summer evening, just to watch the water and the scenery and get a few moments for myself. Now, when I go there to meditate, I find that what I am doing is very close to what I actually did already then.
Stands at the sea, wonders at wondering: I a universe of atoms, an atom in the universe.
