Beginner looking for advice

Post here if you are just starting out with your mindfulness practice. Mindfulness is a really difficult concept to get your head around at first, and it might be that you would benefit from some help from others.

Hi Aarron, I too experience bouts of depression and anxiety - at times of great stress it can be pretty chronic so I can relate to you with that. I am about to read the same book, so we can compare notes! Although I have been practicing mindfulness for a few years, very very loosely and unstructured!, I have found in the past that when in the actual throws of an anxiety attack I find a certain type of breathing (4-7-8) to be really helpful in slowing the breath and flow of adrenaline. It's so simple to do but very effective and instantaneous. I learned it through Dr Andrew Weil....I think if you Google his name with breathing after it, you will find a video on Youtube, although he has actually written a book too, about breathing! I see this small on the spot practice as a kind of sticking plaster for racing adrenaline. I hope that helps, talk later!
