Applying mindfulness to boring activities at work

Post here if you are just starting out with your mindfulness practice. Mindfulness is a really difficult concept to get your head around at first, and it might be that you would benefit from some help from others.

Hi there!

The answer should be obvious but I don't know it..

How should I apply mindfulness to a boring activity at work?

Just acknowledge that an activity is boring, and return to it?

But don't I need to return to a physical sensation? And how am I supposed to focus on the activity if I'm now focusing on a physical sensation, or something else?

Why not investigate the feelings of boredom in your body, and how they manifest?

Bring your awareness to one of your senses?

What can you hear?

What can you see?

What can you feel?

Or do whatever it is you're doing 'mindfully'.
Boredom is thinking.
Thinking in this case isn't awareness.
Some find washing up boring, but done mindfully it's pretty good practice.
My former mentor used it as part of her daily practice.
