There are plenty of things in life that distract me from being mindful: concerns about the future, problems at work, angry people, and - (!) - you realize that you are not in the moment. Furthermore, you are so far away and it happens every few minutes.
How do you guys stay on board? What is the secret of staying mindful while no one else does?
And, more importantly, how are you getting inspired to start over again and again? :)

The most important thing is to meditate every day. It's nice to have this different perspective. That's all the motivation I need.

Hey Hermit!

Don't even start to think about what other people are doing and if they are being mindful or not. Your mindfulness is yours and yours only. If you want to become more mindful, it is your job... No one can truly help you if you don't keep practicing for yourself.

To answer your second question, since I first started meditating, I have been on and off with my practice 2-3 times but not for large timeframes.

The trick to being consistent with your practice is to make it a daily habit.

What I recommend is to make sure that you practice even for just one minute every single day for at least 2-3 months.

This way you will program the process of practicing mindfulness into your subconscious mind and after a while, you will feel compelled to keep practicing it :P

That's exactly what I did and it has worked perfectly for me!
