What do you make of this image?
I was considering sharing it on Twitter. I'm not sure about point's 8, 9 and 14 though. They seem to be be implying that people can control what they think, which doesn't sit too well with me.
What do you make of this image?

Hi Gareth
I like it - there are some great suggestions here. I understand your concerns with the way that 8, 9 and 14 are worded but I think it offers the right message; a present moment mindset, as the infographic is described, helps to dispel worries of the past and future.
I'd say it's worth sharing

11. Try meditation.
Yeah, that might help.
Too simplistic all round for my liking.

Though there are some good points on the chart, though I agree that 8,9 and 14 are seemingly encouraging an element of control.

I agree with the concerns raised and would like to throw in no 4 too - tell your mind to calm down. Really? If you could just do that surely people wouldn't struggle with anxiety so much?!

There is a fair bit of avoidance advice and control agendas creeping in. It almost negates it's message of mental presence and acceptance.

Looking at this series of images again, I'm struck by how useless most of them are in terms of being mindful in one's life.

"If this poster was an advert for an 8 week meditation course, then
perhaps it would be effective as a means of seducing course
participants. However this poster doesn't accurately reflect mindfulness meditation or mindfulness therapies."
Exactly this.

Good question.
But I don't think this poster has much to do with mindfulness as it is taught. It is more a poster for a positive thinking course. It is misleading. Good graphics though.

10. Avoid negative emotions. Good luck with that!
Dharmaphreak's comments above ring very true.
Whilst there are a few helpful ideas, most of them are overly simplistic and idealistic, and several of them are, at least in my opinion, downright unhealthy.
