Music for meditation...

I know that Gareth, for one, likes to meditate to music. I find it very helpful when my practice feels like it's getting a little stale or, simply, when I feel like meditating to music.
Finding pieces of music that are ideal to meditate to, that's quite a challenge. For example, some of my favourite Miles Davis tracks have beautifully meditative passages in them, but then he'll get all skew-whiff on me.
Anyway, I'm starting a thread where I'll list the music that works for me when I'm on the meditation bench.
Please feel free to contribute your own suggestions.
Thanks, Jon

'Rain Gently' is some tune isn't it? Have you tried the album 'Copia' by Eluvium?: a beautifully meditative album, and my favourite by him.

I could go on about this all day, but I will need to consult my iTunes library first. Off the top of my head, you need to try A Winged Victory For The Sullen and Stars Of The Lid. Great stuff.

Copia is sublime. Likewise Stars Of The Lid.

I've added Aglaia and Helios to my wishlist which is getting longer and longer.

() by Sigur Ros is also worth a try. It's in my top 10 albums ever, and it certainly makes a nice meditation if you can cope with a bit of Post-Rock. Agaetis Bryjun is pretty good too. The tunes Svefn-g-Englar & Samskeyti take me to another dimension...

It is not what I would call relaxing music on the common meaning, but I encourage you to listen to Devil Doll. This music is weird, orchestral arrangements with some insane vocals by Mr Doctor, it's...different.

The point in his albums is that he sometimes adds 20-30 minutes of absolute silence inside, usually when the album is reaching its end, like in the albums "Dies Irae" and "The Girl who was... death". It's wonderful meditating in these minutes.

There is really not too much music suited for this. However, there is a strange and highly original album with a duo of fiddle and cittern that is really excellent if you make a playlist avoiding the fastest tune. It is called Lamslatt, and you can find it in iTunes:
