Re: Letting go?

This is a great thread and something I too can relate too. I sometimes wake up on my day off and lay in bed working myself up about an email someone sent or a piece of work that’s been ‘dumped’ on me. I find I’m much better when practicing mindfulness regularly and exercising, I know my weakness is ...

Re: What is the eight week course?

Hi there,

The course I found most useful is Mark Williams - Finding Peace in a Frantic World. You'll find the book on amazon. It's 8 weeks and includes guided meditations from tracks on an accompanying CD as well as other tasks to help you be more mindful throughout the day.

Re: Need to get back on the wagon

I found following a plan such as Mark Williams' Finding Peace in a Frantic World worked best for me, reading the book alongside the guided meditations gave me a far better idea of what I should be doing. Having a short attention span isn't a problem - each time you notice your attention has wandered...

Re: Need to get back on the wagon

Hi there,

How did you get on the wagon the first time round?

I was in a similar boat and went back to Mark Williams Finding Peace in a Frantic World book - 8 week plan. Starting again from week one.

Good luck!

Re: Am I overdoing mindfulness?

Thanks both. I've reigned things in a bit this week and finding it much much easier now I'm not 'trying' to be mindful all the time.

I've always struggled with the non-striving aspect of mindfulness!

Thanks

Am I overdoing mindfulness?

I completed the 8 week finding peace in a frantic world programme 3 years ago, I kept it up for a short while after but pretty much fell off the mindfulness wagon, just dipping in every now and then where I felt I needed it. Over the past few weeks I’ve been feeling quite anxious so started the prog...

Re: 'Speed' of mindfulness

I see where you are coming from Nice Fish, does it almost feel like you want the 3 minutes to "go faster" so that you can get on with whatever you need to do next? When I've felt like that I have found that consciously saying to myself that "this is my 3 minutes, I can't change the sp...

Re: Mindfulness and Focus

It's an interesting topic. I haven't deliberately tried 'mindful reading' but, interestingly, I find reading much easier and far more enjoyable since I started practicing mindfulness. In the past I could be reading the words and thinking of something else, so read a few paragraphs before realising I...

Re: FPIAFW - Week 5: Turning Towards Difficulties

Hi Nice Fish,

I think earlier in the book it says that you can choose to go back a repeat a week if you feel this would be useful for you, or just move on to week 6 if you feel happy to. So I guess it's whatever you feel best doing.

Hope you are back to 100% soon.

Thanks,
Mark
