Re: The attachment/concept of self
I just finished reading a kabat-zinn book, and I found that the majority of my questions have been answered. I realized that our self can sort of lead to selfish behaviors that lead to actions that can cause pain/disharmony to others. Being aware of "I", "me" or other first perso...

Re: The attachment/concept of self
Buddha discovered all the universal knowledge when he was away from his home and connected deeply to self. Similarly for anyone to discover the truth of life this attachment is important and simultaneously at that time getting rid of other attachments is also important else the connection and medit...

The attachment/concept of self
Hello all, I have been recently reading Buddhist meditation books, and I have come across a common theme in every single one: becoming aware of the concept of "I, me, myself" in relation to attachment. One text mentions "self" as the hardest attachment to become aware/let go off ...

Re: Week 8 or The Rest of Your Life
I usually start the morning off with conscious breathing or a 10 minute sitting meditation if I have time. In addition to this, I try to have one or 2 fifteen minute sessions throughout the daily. I find that what also helps is a few minute breathing spaces that allow me to ground myself whenever I ...

Re: Mindfulness and Relationships
Just an update: I talked to my girlfriend and gave her the book, and merely stated that I would appreciate it if she read it to understand why I am so passionate about mindfulness and it went well! She was very receptive to the idea of looking Into it! Thanks for all the advice everyone!

Re: Mindfulness and Relationships
Great question! My hunch would be that persuading her, however gently, to try mindfulness might be counter-productive. It's one of those things that rather needs to find you at the right time. One option might be to buy her a book on the subject and explain that it would mean a lot to you if she re...

Re: Mindfulness and Relationships
I believe that by being myself and merely having her seen the positive benefits I noticed (She has commented on them as well) that this will be enough to give her a chance to engage herself with mindfulness and see what it does for her personally.

Re: Mindfulness and Relationships
JonW, I like the advice. I am seeing her again soon and do not want to force mindfulness on her. I want her to discover it herself. Ill look into the book you suggested; however, I already have a very good one called "Peace in every step" by Nhat Hanh that I am thinking of giving to her. T...

Mindfulness and Relationships
I have been dating my partner now for about 1.5 years, and around our 1 year mark I started to feel confused about everything as my s.o. and I were not on the same page emotionally--I felt stronger than she did about me. So, with other stressors in my life including this one, I started mindfulness a...

Re: Practice Observing Thoughts
Great posts by everyone. That's really nice to hear that by merely sitting back and observing our lives and thoughts can provide so much insight.
