Re: stomach burning
Thanks for the thread and for the answers! I actually ran into a similar issue with massive stomach aches when dealing with stressful situations. For example, a couple weeks ago, I had to do rentability estimations (read: how much time it'd take to justify the purchase if you rent them all year long...

Re: What would you do?
I've found that it does help sometimes... When you live in a large family with lots of conflict-prone members, you need to adapt to this kind of practices or you won't survive!

Re: Resources on Self-Compassion
Yes, sometimes we aren't thankful enough for all of the good things we have in our lives; we've often had them all along and don't notice them because of that, but we do have quite a lot of things in our life that we should be happy to have.

Re: 30 Day Free Access to Meditation App for a Study on Mindfulness
Glad to see that mindfulness is gathering interest from researchers and from the "official" science community in general! Will you keep us informed of how it goes afterwards?

Re: practicing mindfulness for depression
'My partner suffers depression but whenever I suggest it to her she gets annoyed.' Gareth has very eloquently addressed this issue before. If someone is resistant to taking up mindfulness practice, there is little point in trying to persuade them of its worth. Just carry on with your own practice. ...

Re: What would you do?
Yes, it's definitely a tricky part. Telling your brother will be one hell of a task since it'd be quite easy to rub HIM the wrong way by saying something negative about his girlfriend. Household diplomacy is always fun ! You could say that she's making people uncomfortable with the gossiping; just a...

Re: Hard time integrating mindfulness and creativity
It's true that such a wandering mind is often the sign of an unhappy person: it's a form of escapism for your conscience, that would rather bury itself into an imaginary world than into the real one. I've never thought about it from a mindfulness point of view, but I write stories as well, and was m...

Re: To Think or not To Think?
It's true that reaching such a state is quite difficult in terms of free, undisturbed time; something we cannot all enjoy that often in our fast-paced, demanding, work-obsessed world. And even then, you need a relatively free mind that isn't shackled down by immediate grave issues, or by other thing...

Re: Heart pounding at 132bpm when meditating for the first time
I think that you successfully launched yourself into trance mode; how did you feel after that, apart from the questions that you asked yourself? Was it relaxing? Stressing? If you felt better, lighter after that, then you're a lucky guy, you got yourself a way to do free therapy (not that you should...

Re: Looking for Clear Instructions
Finding a personal tutor or buying a book can help, but it isn't something you can always find an access to; let's say it's expensive, or that you live in the countryside/in a small town and can't find someone to tutor you... By "concentrating on the tip of your nose", I think that what is...
