Refreshing mindfulness practice

Hi All I was on this forum some years ago but then drifted away and my mindfulness practice is now only sporadic but in view of ongoing issues (climate change, the future of democracy, difficult personal relationships etc) that concern me, I'd like to refresh my practice. When previously on this for...

Re: Jon Kabat-Zinn

I've found all JKZ's books good. I started with Full Catastrophe Living as I believe the 8 week course is based on this (which I was taking at the time). Many others have liked the other books mentioned and these may be a little 'lighter' reading the Full Catastrophe so might be a good place to star...

Re: Yoga, etc

I did some yoga as part of my 8 week mindfulness course (a few years ago). I enjoyed learning that yoga is a form of meditation. I found just simple poses, eg just the 'mountain posture' (standing tall and strong and dignified yet relaxed) or simple arms stretches (eg upwards, forwards, backwards) a...

Re: Useful Android Apps

I've downloaded it to give it a try but is it only possible to log in via Facebook? I'd prefer to login manually.

Re: Mindfulness Groups

Hi Star Shine You might find some yoga classes incorporate meditation/mindfulness into their practice - I think hatha yoga has a particular emphasis on breathing. My original mindfulness teacher used to incorporate yoga into her classes which I enjoyed - yoga then becoming part of the meditation pra...

Re: Just One Thing to many?

It does seem to be becoming more sporadic - sorry I have not been posting quite so regularly. The chapters of last year's book seemed to provide novel practices that inspired more interest. If others wish to continue, I'm happy to press on but we do seem to have lost most other contributors. There s...
