Re: Struggling with Anxiety/OCD

I think turning toward difficulty style meditations would be good now. Spending time learning and understanding what the sensations in the body are and where the intensity is and also where it isn't, will allow you to look at it differently. Every part of it. Not thinking about it but truly feeling ...

Re: The multitasking mind

The walking style meditation may be slightly different to yours. My experience is really similar but also different... I normally focus on my feet the same way as I would the breath, so every time I'm pulled away I try to come back to the feet. I find there's lots of stuff going on mentally and at t...

Pain Meditations

Hi all, Im always hearing about JKZ work with chronic pain but cant really find anything on YouTube in terms of guided meditations or anything? Is it just basically the body scan but then working with select areas? Or the open monitoring style meditations but again working on painful areas? Ive look...

Re: Subtly Avoiding Feelings

This is exactly where I am in my practice right now. After focussing on the breath for a long time and body scans which were making me calmer I never really got much out of the turning towards difficult meditations as I was never able to feel anxious when thinking of stuff. For some reason I find th...

Re: Honouring emotions whilst not being bossed around by them

I think for example, someone learning to deal with panic attacks with mindfulness. It's possibly (or they believe) the most intense emotion they can feel, to the point they have to flee situations or avoid altogether. I think people sitting with a panic attack may be the most profound effect one can...

Re: What is holding you back?

I would say my reason is mainly because when I start feeling better and more calm during the day there's not that immediate urgency to meditate as I'm feeling good. Then I may have some stressfull weeks or days or something major comes up in life and I get back into it and then start to feel better ...

Re: More aware of pain/emotion

Thanks Jon.

Sorry if it wasn't clear in the original post (or if It makes any difference for that matter) That part you quoted is what Mark Williams actually said in the lecture and I was really hoping he would go into a lot more detail with it.

More aware of pain/emotion

We often hear about beginners feeling more sensitive to physical symptoms whether it's physical pain or strong emotions and over time I'm assuming this changes? I've just watched a great lecture with Mark Williams and it was really annoying because early on he stated how "'mindfulness makes us ...

Re: Mindfulness Didn't Last Longer

Maybe 'fixed' just means we have a different perspective on emotion and thoughts. Which could change everything.
