"I can see that this is something I really need in my life to heal myself. Its quite bizarre to me that I feel so profoundly affected by it when this is only the beginning."
That's exactly how I felt at the beginning. There was a profound sense of coming home that has not left me since. Mindfulness has enriched my life immeasurably.
I'll email my teacher Nick to see if he has any suggestions for London-based teachers.
All good things,
Jon, Hove

Hello Nessa -
I just finished reading your posts and the replies. I too am new to mindfulness practice and have just started the 8 week course in the book. I am on the second week. I wanted to tell you that I felt as if I wrote your posts as I have been having the exact same experience. I feel the crying is sort of beautiful and pure and much different than the crying fits I am accustomed too when I have a panic attack.
In some strange way the crying brings me peace and I really related to the analogy of gold being purified because the tears that flow feel like a welcome release of lots of pain.
I think this is why it took me nearly three weeks to get through the first week of meditation practice in the book. I knew if I meditated it would bring on strong emotions and that was scary to me and I so I would talk myself out of meditating because I "don't have time to deal with all these emotions right now. I need to get on with my daily tasks."
After reading your posts I realize that there is no more important task for me right now as these tears are welcome and freeing.
I appreciate your honesty and found this all very reassuring. Wishing you all the best in your journey.

Hi, sounds like you've bought the digital version of Finding Peace in a Frantic World. I've found it a useful course, thought it took me longer than eight weeks to complete. It's often been said in this forum that the paper version is better because there is a cd of guided meditations with it - the same meditations are also free with the digital version, you simply download them through Audible - the instructions are in the book. I wish you every success.
