I'm married with 3 daughters the youngest being 5 yrs., i fell into depression and anxiety about 2 years ago,this was after my wife suddenly became disabled due to blood pressure problems,she was(and still is) my rock,someone who always gave me the love and support i needed. With her illness i felt i had to cope all on my own,now 2 yrs. on i know that wasn't the case, but at the time my mental health went down hill,so for 6 exasperating months i waited for a place on a mindfulness course,after seeing many doctors, consultants, therapists( the NHS are very good at that and i wouldn't ever dream of saying anything bad about it they were extremely helpful to me and my family) i attended my 8 week course, it was the most uplifting positive thing i'd done in a long time, very helpful to me and my mind, i still participate in mindful meditation now at home,it is the one thing i have become passionate about because it helped me tremendously and i want everyone who has mental health concerns and come to that anyone who doesn't have concerns, it is beneficial to everyone.
I hope to come on to this site and be able to discuss topics with like minded people who will be able to give account of their own experiences,whether negative or positive and hopefully we can build a better future for everyone learning from our own experiences, i can be contacted/ read on twitter under the name of Depression / Anxiety @BigalRoper
I look forward to meeting in the sci-fi,computery, techy,on line sort of way soon.

A lot of people come to mindfulness via the way of poor mental health, myself included. It's the light at the end of an otherwise extremely dismal tunnel.

I think my own husband could well empathise with you as he has been through a similar experience.
Lots of us here have discovered mindfulness during a time of mental and/or physical struggle so I think you will find many people who understand where you are.

I think we hosted your story as a blog in the early days of EM didn't we? Great to see you here in the forum. We have all have our own personal demons, and mindfulness helps us meet them with honesty and forgiveness. I hope your demons get fewer over time.
