Sleep

Post here if you are just starting out with your mindfulness practice. Mindfulness is a really difficult concept to get your head around at first, and it might be that you would benefit from some help from others.

That's a good way to look at it. It's hard not to start thinking "I've got such a busy day ahead, I'm going to be so tired..." I'll have a go next time I wake up super early.

Thanks,
Mark

Great thread! I had this last night...I'm running on 3 hours sleep right now! 3 years into my practice, like Gareth, and this is still my main issue.

Slightly better than it was but hey, it's all a part of the journey. We all have our thing I suppose.

One thing I learned is to not worry about it. The doctor once told me "it's not the quantity of sleep you have, it's the quality".

I also find mindfulness extremely difficult when lying in bed looking at the ceiling. Because we're tired by this time of night, or morning...it's hard to concentrate!

Keep us informed on how you get on! I'll throw something in if I discover anything else.

I'm hoping my sleep improves soon, ihaven't always had sleep problems. I have stopped taking my medication after a few weeks of reducing the dose. My sleep has suffered since. Mirtazapine has been awful to come off for me. I got 3 hours last night!

I might check that book out, thanks :-)

I've ordered the book from Amazon, worth a go!

I've slept ok the past few nights, I seem to go through phases of sleeping well, then not being able to sleep or waking up very early.

I'll let you know how I get on.

Mark

A meditation would do a big part as your trying to catch up sleep through healthy living procedure and better understanding of the benefits of early sleeping.
