(I'm sorry of this sounds silly)

When I started mindfulness. In the first session we talked a lot about dogs. And how dogs are very mindful creatures. The more I got into the course, the more and more I realised how dogs are mindful creatures, and my dog, Toby became my favourite person to meditate with. He lies next to me when I formally meditate, and walks with me when I go on mindful walks.

It was about two weeks into the course where it clicked in my brain Toby is a 'mindful' creature. We were out walking... He ran on, chasing some birds and went under a fence. I was a hundred percent freaking out... Toby on the other hand... Was loving life. He was exploring, when he eventually came back to me. I was all 'rawrrrr bad dog' but to him, he hasn't done anything wrong. He came back to me (and was expecting a piece of chicken :x ) - I was playing the scenario over and over in my head, when really I should have been in the moment and glad I had him back!!

The subject of dogs came up a lot during group. (Much to my delight, I can take forever about my dog) on the last week as I left...Matt told me 'rainbow be as mindful as your dog'

So that's what I'm trying to do. Be as mindful as Toby.
I hope this makes sense. (And you enjoyed the pictures)
Hope you are all well.

The subject of dogs is always welcome here on Everyday Mindfulness!
My cocker spaniel Banjo is often cited as a prime example of a mindful creature. When I first started meditating, he would get quite concerned and start licking my face as though he was trying to revive me or something. Now he accepts that it's part of my everyday routine and snoozes next to me when I sit. If only my cat Bilbo was so mindful. When I take to my meditation stool he usually takes that as a cue to start miaowing very loudly. I've learned to build that into my meditation. "Sound of cat miaowing".
Love the photos of Toby. Another cool spaniel!
All best, Jon

That's adorable. - Toby will lie with me too! :)
And yes I agree about cats! Lol. Bless their little cottons, cats will hold a grudge for ever.

Yes. That's the thing about cats. They like to get their retaliation in first. You don't need to displease them. They will retaliate on the basis that you might do something in the distant future that will slightly displease them.

We do indeed need to see pictures of Banjo :D
I feel the need to stand up for cats though. Our cat (Shelly Cooper Phd) is a lovely and very affectionate little beast who cuddles up with us at night and quite often curls up next to me when I meditate 8-)
