Hi All
Just started my morning off with a wonderful body scan meditation in the car on the car park at work. I was really in the moment and didn't avoid or fight any feelings. I went with it and found on a couple of occassions I found my mind wondering but to no where in particular.
I gently brought my focus back and went with it.
Really useful exercise.

I try to Do a Body scan every Morning just when i wake up that is best Time of day for me, i have on occasions fallen back to sleep again but its Been on a weekend when i,ve not needed to get up i Do my meditation in evening after work and that helps me un Wind after work , am into week 4 of Danny penman 8 week programme, taking me longer as i miss days on weekend when my Grandkids stay but thats ok its not a race doing it at my pace. Life is good.

Just completed another body scan and this one was very different to the first I began to notice an absence of sensation at that moment in most areas. I went with it and at first found a judging thought but refocused.
It was v relaxing & also helped me reconnect to the body. I've suddenly become tired.

As Kabat-Zinn says with regard to the body scan, "If you feel no sensation, just register 'no sensation'."
That's being mindful.
It's not about looking for sensation where none exists and it's perfectly normal not to feel any sensation in certain parts of the body.
Also it's quite normal to feel a little tired after meditating. It's all OK. It's all exactly as it is in the moment.
Have a mindful day too. I've just realised it's a Bank Holiday, which means permission from myself to be bone idle. Yay!

I am starting week 2 of Mark William's 8-week plan which is mindfulness of body, and body scans 2x a day. I have made an intention to be aware of tension in my body as much as I can all week. It is only 10am here and I have noticed at least 10 times already today that my shoulders are tensed up and have relaxed them. I have always been very uptight and I suppose that has a lot to do with not being mindful of tension in my body and emotions.
Anyway, I am glad to hear your body scans are progressing. I'll be exploring this along with you this week

it's good to hear this good news , we can carry a lot of emotional tension as well as physical tension from working at computers and suchlike in our shoulders without really being aware of it.
the body scan can help uncover these 'hidden' pockets of tension and increase your general awareness.

I found body scans an incredibly powerful way of reconnecting with my body. Initially I found it difficult when I really paid attention because one side of my body is weaker and I have less sensation. Ultimately it was both empowering and I found a healing quality to the awareness too.

HELP! I've got problems which is making me feel like I'm going nowhere with this at the moment, does anyone have any ideas?
First, as a matter of course, I'm very body unaware and I'm pretty resilient to a lot of discomfort. I find it kind of difficult to focus on any part of me unless there's something happening there. Feeling nothing makes it very hard to focus - so I'm either getting grumpy or falling asleep or both. I guess I could wiggle toes or tense muscles? For some reason I've been resisting this.
I've don't get so much of a problem with mindfulness of breathing or informal practice - but the resources I have are based around the body scan, and I can understand why.
