Cats and Dogs

Post here if you are just starting out with your mindfulness practice. Mindfulness is a really difficult concept to get your head around at first, and it might be that you would benefit from some help from others.

My cat Bilbo was fed 15 minutes ago and is now angling (very loudly) for a second breakfast. Any ideas about how Bilbo can be encouraged to be more mindful about mealtimes?
For the record my spaniel Banjo was fed 15 minutes ago and is now enjoying a nice kip on the sofa.
Therefore, mindful dog/mindless cat.
Is this normal?

The way I see it, a well looked after dog is just happy to be alive. If I could be any animal other than a human, it would absolutely be a dog - preferably a labrador. How often do you see a labrador hating on life?

I realise that doesn't come close to answering your question  Maybe put Bilbo's tea up a tree and make him work for it :)

Good advice but, if I put Bilbo's tea up a tree, the bloody seagulls will have it.

In my experience cats are mindful... About their needs.. To the exclusion of all others.
Cooper PhD lives moment to moment. One moment she wants the door opening so she can go out, then she needs it opening so she can come back in. :D

Self-compassion but no compassion then. I'd love to meet a Buddhist cat.
