Accessible Mindfulness for Deaf/Hard of Hearing people

Post here if you are just starting out with your mindfulness practice. Mindfulness is a really difficult concept to get your head around at first, and it might be that you would benefit from some help from others.

Hi everyone,

Just wanted to quickly introduce myself and tell you about a free resource I've put together for deaf/hard of hearing people.

I am a Mindfulness practitioner and writer - you can see more details of my work on http://www.thedancingphoenix.co.uk

I'm especially passionate about making my workshops and classes accessible and have taught deaf, hard of hearing and deaf-blind people in the past. I've noticed there is still a huge lack of understanding and awareness about Mindfulness in these communities, simply because most resources aren't accessible.

To begin to rectify this and generate clearer understanding of what Mindfulness is and its benefits, I've put together a series of online taster videos - delivered in sign language and complete with English transcriptions.

These are completely FREE of charge.

If you or anyone you know would like to receive the video links to these, please contact me via the contact option on my website.

Warm wishes to you all.

Welcome Rebecca,

That baby must be nearly here by now! Your work looks wonderful and very valuable. This 'project' is open to everyone, all we are doing is trying to tell people about the power of mindfulness. It seems that your work is in the same vain so we ought to join together and promote mindfulness. I am ashamed to say that I have never thought about the 'accessibility' of mindfulness, but it seems you have lots of experience here. Mindfulness is of course something that can benefit any human being, so we are going to have to think about the accessibility of the main site also.

I very much look forward to your contributions here, although you are likely to be very busy over the next few weeks.

Hello and welcome to our community.
Thanks for sharing this with us. I'll check it out and look forward to getting to know you :)
