I want to expand my practice

Post here if you are just starting out with your mindfulness practice. Mindfulness is a really difficult concept to get your head around at first, and it might be that you would benefit from some help from others.

Hi everyone, I've been meditating for a while and it feels incredible. But I always felt there should be more to it. I got introduced to mindfulness from this article: https://bit.ly/2y8kvoM and I got hooked. I would appreciate any pointers and inspiring stories you guys have practicing mindfulness.

Hi.
What do you mean by 'I always felt there should be more to it'?
The article you link to is actually a sales pitch for an inferior, expensive product that has little to do with mindfulness.
Thanks,
Jon

I meant that I want to be in a constant meditative state. Mindful and awake in any surroundings.

'I meant that I want to be in a constant meditative state.'

Well, nobody has ever achieved that.
So good luck.

You wouldn't really as you'd get nothing done.

I'm not sure that's true. A mindful state can be defined simply as being aware of what one is doing while one is doing it. It doesn't mean zoning out. Quite the opposite. It's about zoning in, being more aware, being present with moment to moment experience.
Either way, the idea of being mindful 24/7 is fairly preposterous, the stuff of myth. Aiming to be mindful every second of the day is not the point at all. Mindfulness is as much about catching the mind wandering and coming home to the moment as it is about deliberately being mindful while carrying out an action - eg. eating, walking.
All best,
Jon

I so relate to at least trying to live in a meditative state. I try to live a mindful way of life by slowing down and when I can using exercises to help me really practise via headspace app. That's what works for me. I find it interesting as in the West its all about more of everything and speeding up and always on doing or experiencing the next thing. Mindfulness helps me really enjoy my life in a way I can't get by following everyone else in life. This forum is great!
