Can shut off my mind about 90% but it stays on a little like 10%

Post here if you have been practising for a while, and you are starting to get your head around what this is all about. Also post here if you are a long-term practitioner with something to say about the practice.

How do I get that last annoying 10% to switch off?

I can feel a little bit of mind use on its mostly off but the last little bit of mind use is very hard for me to shut down.

I have the bets luck with the non striving and give up desire teaching points. But even they are problematic.

Any tips for this?

Or should I just be focusing on daily meditation and long term results and I should forget about short term outcomes?

Hi.
Mindfulness isn't really about shutting the mind off. It has more to do with choosing where we put our attention.
Yes, I'd say that forgetting about short-term outcomes is a good idea. Just keep up your daily practice.
Best wishes,

You are doing well if it's only 10%!

I'm not even sure it's useful or realistic to talk in terms of percentages. No matter how long you've been meditating, some days the mind will be busy, some days less so. It's more a question of whether we feed thoughts with our attention or not. That's where practice is key.
