How do you do it what do you do?
For how long?

It's a very simple practice but, in my view, is best approached in a structured way. An 8-week mindfulness course is a good way to ground yourself in the practice. Try looking for a teacher in your area or, if that's not possible, do a course via a book. Finding Peace In A Frantic World by Mark Williams and Danny Penman is a good one.
It takes time, patience and a fair amount of commitment. You won't become mindful in any sustained way without a regular meditation practice, ideally a daily one. 20-30 minutes each way is recommended.
And put aside any thoughts about getting it 'right' or achieving quick results. Just meditate.
All best,
Jon
