Hello people,
My name is Cam and I have been practising mindfulness techniques for a little while but have been interested in certain related concepts since I had a particular experience whilst travelling through Malaysia as a young man.
That was over ten years ago and I have been spiritually meandering ever since. Fairly recently, I came across the Tao Te Ching and I have drawn a lot from that text. Since then I have found and been reading Thich Nhat Hanh's works which have provided a fresh perspective and introduced me to more of the concepts of mindfulness.
I currently work full time for a social landlord based in London and in my free time I pursue various creative projects and run a blog on philosophy and creativity. In October I become a father and basically, my free time has evaporated and my need for mindfulness has increased.
I know one or two people who are interested in mindfulness but given how many people I interact with in my day-to-day life, this is a tiny minority. Therefore I have joined this forum to meet others who are interested in learning and practising mindfulness. I look forward to engaging with you.
Thanks for reading,
Hello from near London

Nothing better than being mindful of a new born baby. Learn from him or her. Babies and toddlers are masters of mindfulness.
Thank you both for the welcome.
Newborns as masters of mindfulness - that's ace, I'd never thought about it like that!
Parenting is all new to me but I had heard conversing with infants is good for their cognitive development. Hence, I do try and talk to my son as much as I can, but I guess I should also be enjoying the silence and just breathing when its possible!

Jon & Myla Kabat-Zinn published a beautiful and very wise book about mindfulness and parenting: Everyday Blessings.
Highly recommended.
