Pain is inevitable , but suffering is optional.
Pain can be seen as 'primary '. Suffering as secondary.
It's down to our thoughts, our aversion or resistance to the pain.
By accepting the pain you can let go of the suffering, and so 'possibly ' ease the pain.
Meditating on the pain, with a lot of self compassion, lets us see just how much our thoughts add to our pain levels.
There's a good poem about acceptance and aversion,that we used in classes, called "The guest house".
