More Mindfulness Books

Post here if you are just starting out with your mindfulness practice. Mindfulness is a really difficult concept to get your head around at first, and it might be that you would benefit from some help from others.

I have read both of Tara Brach's books, done the 8 week Palouse Mindfulness course and I am now aware of the basics and some techniques of meditation and informal mindfulness tools. I am looking to deepen my practice by incorporating mindfulness into my daily life. Are there any books that can help me do that?

Hi arguseyed,
Have you ever read anything of Thich Nhat Hanh? I find his teachings very much about incorporating mindfulness in daily life.

I'd highly recommend Jon Kabat-Zinn's monumental Coming To Your Senses and any of Ed Halliwell's three books.

I'm a big fan of Buddhism Without Beliefs by Stephen Batchelor. Batchelor lays out some of the more "advanced" techniques and concepts (like what it looks like to not have an ego), but does so in a really clear way, without difficult or esoteric language.

Hi drewscanlon,
I'm a big fan of Stephen Batchelor myself.
Welcome to the site, by the way.
All good things,
Jon

Hi drewscanlon,

I checked it online and it looks like an interesting read. Thanks for suggesting.

Im reading and going practicing the Ron Siegel book "The Mindfulness Solution - Everyday practices for everyday problems" and really enjoying it. You'll obviously need to buy the book but the meditations are available for free here - http://www.mindfulness-solution.com/Dow ... tions.html

Thank you! It's always useful to have more guided meditations if not the book as well.

I'm probably at a similar point in my practice and find that I'm ready for a little more so I'm really looking forward to reading The Mind Illuminated by Culadasa :)
