New Website Section?

Post here if you are just starting out with your mindfulness practice. Mindfulness is a really difficult concept to get your head around at first, and it might be that you would benefit from some help from others.

The other day, a friend of mine told me that they were starting to have real problems with anxiety and asked me how you "got into" mindfulness. Before we met to talk about it, I made some notes for them to take away. Basically, there were four headings as follows:

Apps
Websites
Books
Courses

And then notes under each section. At the end of it, I looked at it and thought: "that looks quite neat, and comprehensive. We should have something like that on the site."

On the top navigation bar, where we have:
what is mindfulness? »
resources »
categories »
write for us
help us

Learn Mindfulness could possibly be another option on there, or it could sit under resources?

I just wanted to open this up for discussion, in the interests of us being a community.

Great idea! I really like the idea of a resource section, where we could find or share books, apps, podcasts, etc. I'm always on the hunt for resources to inspire and refresh my mindfulness practice!

I think that's a great idea. One that I would definitely have used and continue to if it had recommendations etc, as debbieko said.

I think it would be good as a proper section on the navigation bar, that way it could evolve and be found faster by newcomers.

I'll watch with interest. :)

I think that would be helpful for everyone, but especially those new to the practice.

What is Mindfulness? should include a link to the Learn Mindfulness section as they're closely interrelated and to me the next step after a newcomer reads the What is Mindfulness page. If I click on What is Mindfulness? I'd expect there to be a link to a resource on the page that allows me to learn the practice, if it's not on the page itself (which is OK, a separate page for resources to help you learn the practice might even be better).

Also, separating this section/link from Resources to me would be very helpful. To me, most won't automatically assume this basic "101" learn the practice page/section would be under the Resources section, although for good measure I'd also include a link to the page on the Resources page so that you make sure to cover all your bases.

How about a FAQ page? We often get the same questions. Might be a good idea to have a page about those, and their answers.

"How about a FAQ page?"

This is the best idea since Fred Flintstone invented sliced bread.
I'm definitely in.

These ideas really do make sense, that's actually how my mind works :D

'Learn' under 'what is mindfulness' is a great idea.

I love the idea of an FAQ too. We should start a topic about it soon...

The only downside to a FAQ section is that it would lessen debate, and you find it already too quiet. Just something to bare in mind.
