Hello from the wilds

Post here if you have been practising for a while, and you are starting to get your head around what this is all about. Also post here if you are a long-term practitioner with something to say about the practice.

Hello all,

As this is my first post; an introduction Might be a good idea.

My nearest neighbours are three fields away, and there are a lot of trees preventing me from knowing what they are up to. and I spend a lot of time just following my own interests.

I am registered with a couple of other forums, but this one is the most neat and user friendly. One of those other forums has a space to which I like to post replies. It works well in prompting my present awareness. The question is : What are you thinking or feeling right now ? People respond briefly, and it is used a lot. Other questions I like to use include WHAT are your simple pleasures ?

I spent many years working around the U.K. in engineering, until retiring with M E, whatever that means. I now live in a way that I should have from the start, with a little bit more awareness, especially of my limits.

Martin.

Hi Martin,
Welcome to the forum. Please feel free to make yourself at home here.
Right now, I'm thinking about the mindful walk I'm planning to take around the UK. I caught myself worrying a little about practical considerations. Like what kind of toothpaste to bring and whether to bring an electric toothbrush or a manual one. Hmm.
All my pleasures are fairly simple. Among other things I enjoy:
Walking my dog, Banjo
Listening to Louis Armstrong records
Making soup
Eating soup
Laughing with friends
Meditating
Looking at the sea
Doing nothing

All best wishes,
Jon

Hi Martin,

I like that question & it's a good reminder to check in on what's going on.

I like it very much when I can answer: 'I'm here, simply being', that's an achievement.

My simple pleasures are:
Smiling
Laughing
Meditation
Yoga (gentle)
Mindfulness of watching tap water flow into the bath
Music
Like minded people

Oh, I like eating soup too :D
Nice to meet you :)

"Oh, I like eating soup too."

I notice you didn't mention cooking soup. Just eating it.
Hmmmm...
Heinz? :o
