"I'm really tempted to get this book."

It's the book I still recommend to people who don't have access to a teacher. I'm still very fond of it but my position has slightly changed since I did my mindfulness teaching course. If I have one criticism of FPIAFW it's that it tends to go light on the body scan. The way I've been taught to teach, the body scan comes in week one and it's 30 minutes. Experience has taught me the importance of this - becoming grounded in the body before addressing thoughts.
Cheers,
Jon

I couldn't agree more, Jon!

If I remember correctly, the book lets the reader practice for about 15 minutes a day. And it doesn't add to that. Which I found a bit odd. I would have liked it better if it began light, and incremented over time. Indeed, especially for the body scan.

Could you suggest a way to address this to begin with? I really like the recorded Body Scan that he's done, could I perhaps do it twice in one session? I will do half hour unguided when I get used to it. :D

On Spotify there's a longer version (40 min) of that body scan - by Mark Williams!

Plenty of other options on YouTube too.
Enjoy!

Just out of interest, which guided (40 minutes or so) Body Scan do you like best...Jon Kabat Zinn or Mark Williams? I've done Jon's today and found it to be very good, he speaks calmly & slowly and that really does relax me.

I'll be doing Mark's tomorrow, I think it's on YouTube (I haven't got Spotify). I do like his shorter version but prefer to do Body Scan for longer. I am more or less grounded once both legs have been scanned (on longer version).

Can I ask what appeals to you more about the Mark Williams one?
