It is lovely, but a tad too brisk for my meditation purposes.

Great suggestions. I may try these ones out.

Several months ago as I began practicing, I had some very bad feelings during and after the guided bodyscan.

My solution for this was putting calming music under it. I love it, so here's my suggestion for 'Nawang Khechog',
He is a Tibetan flutist, experienced meditator and someone who has suffered greatly. Eckhart Tolle once suggested him for his 'present music'. It's often in online video's and even movies.
I feel some of his practice 'breathes through' his music.
Don't mind me.

Apart from Chicane and Global Communication I haven't heard of these bands/artists, colour me interested.

JonW wrote:I know that Gareth, for one, likes to meditate to music. I find it very helpful when my practice feels like it's getting a little stale or, simply, when I feel like Meditation Mantras to music.
Finding pieces of music that are ideal to meditate to, that's quite a challenge. For example, some of my favourite Miles Davis tracks have beautifully meditative passages in them, but then he'll get all skew-whiff on me.
Anyway, I'm starting a thread where I'll list the music that works for me when I'm on the meditation bench.
Please feel free to contribute your own suggestions.

Moby has released hours of free ambient music for yoga and meditation.
If you google Moby Long Ambients you should find them without much trouble.

Thanks. That's true but I don't find Moby's ambient stuff very meditative.

This stuff is very different to the music he normally makes. It is actual slow ambient music created to aid sleep and meditation.

Has anybody heard of Cafe del Mar? Moby does appear there as well (Chicane too), it's great ambient music, not in particular for meditation (at least most of the songs do not fit), but it's great to become concentrated or just chill-out...worth checking out...
