Hey everyone - I have been dealing with the constant monkey mind/racing thoughts for most of my life and that is part of the reason I began my mindfulness practice some time ago. I recently took about a 6 month break from meditation and noticed that my constant overthinking/over analyzing throughout the day decreased during that time. Once I began my meditation practice again, my overthinking throughout the day has come back. While I have gotten many benefits from my mindfulness practice, the thing that brought me to mindfulness appears to have gotten worse.
Any thoughts on this? I'd love to resume my mindfulness practice but it's hard when it seems to get me overthinking things.
And just to give you an idea, when i meditate I typically do about an hour focusing on either my breath, thoughts or body sensations. My meditation sessions appear to go well but I just notice myself overthinking/over analyzing things afterwards.
Thanks,
Scooter
Racing thoughts in daily life
I probably didn't explain this as well as i could have but what i really meant was that during the day I'm living in my head. So rather than walking I'm thinking about walking....rather than seeing I'm thinking about seeing....rather than thinking I'm thinking about thinking. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks.
