Just wanted to grab your attention before you bin mindfulness as an option for dealing with your particular anxiety problem, you won't have heard about mindfulness/meditation this way, at least know it to bin it right?
I used this exact approach and conquered my own anxiety totally. It took many years but it worked. It doesn't need to take you that long however because if I knew then what I know now.....I'm not selling you anything by the way. Everything you really ever need to truly know about conquering anxiety problems is right on this page and its original content from me and my life.
I've seen how mindfulness advice comes across online and I'd be confused with what it offers and hows its done as well so that's all stopped here. In a no BS yet gentle beside manner way this guide will help you to actually know what you're up against and give you the realest advice around on dealing with anxiety problems as a whole, from someone who has actually done it themselves
All of our many anxiety problems are routed in something we all have; thoughts and feelings. Stopping and taking a moment to look at your own thoughts, or to feel something in your body is mindfulness/meditating its that simple. Shame they confused it by bringing out another word but there you go!
Without hitting a big background thing I'll just tell you exactly what I did to remove my own anxiety problems and tell you exactly why you can not only do it but do it today, if you felt up to it. There's no rules with the mindfulness I do insomuch as 'I have to do it or else', my mindfulness doesn't cause anxiety, it solves it so feel free to chill, no rules, just choices...as long as you know what there is to choose of course.
Learn, experiment and use this whenever you feel strong. Anything and any amount of this kind of meditation/mindfulness you do, down to even 60 secs of proper trying, is amazing, no empty word dude, actual amazing. Step. Right. Direction
If you ask an anxiety sufferer about negative thoughts they'll relate readily yet not so much about feelings.
Most anxiety thoughts are being agitated by a feeling(s)
I said no BS so when I don't fully get something i'll say. like now. For some reason, somewhere back in your life, you went through something that created a feeling that needed to be felt. You didn't. I didn't. People don't, generally but the fact is that feelings stay in our body and resurface during life events, trying to be felt, apparently they never go away.
I'm not going to lose you here by trying to connect that all together right now just let me tell you what works. Try this, whenever you feel strongest, just try it.
Noticing negative thoughts in your mind is when you can begin. When they come, move your attention, your inner mental attention, to your upper body area. When you feel bad feeling there are actual physical sensations felt in the upper body, most usually.
I'm a bloke and wasn't brought up around feelings but listen to me when I say to hone and bring your full mental attention onto those physical sensations and keep on them. Some people will do this easily, others not so but you're going to try to feel the feeling.
You sort of move from honing in, then watching and then into feeling, a process difficult and clumsy to verbalise, you just find a feeling in your body and you allow it and feel it. Pull back at anytime or feel it for ages, its up to you. Keep doing it and it won't be there to feel anymore at least not in a painful way..
I told you no rules so even if you can only stop, find and fully face and feel a feeling for 60 secs a month you're already lightyears ahead of millions and millions of people, its that unknown, lets make it known.
Stop, find and fully feel your feelings. It takes your attention away from the head as well which will let it chill down a bunch while you're 'out of town' busy feeling feelings. Remember when you fully feel a feeling away, that one won't be back to stir up more trouble, remove a few and notice a literal world of difference in your quality of life, nobody can do this for you
Any at all. Whenever. Just some
