Headspace Take 20 programme

Post here if you have been practising for a while, and you are starting to get your head around what this is all about. Also post here if you are a long-term practitioner with something to say about the practice.

I am sorry to hear you're having some difficult emotions too. I hope you're feeling better by now. I am still struggling some and I am going back to my regular meditations for a while. I did buy the year of Headspace so once I get to feeling like myself again, I'll start up in take 20 again. I will keep touch here or in other threads. Hopefully some others pick up on this one if anyone else is doing the Headspace program!

Thanks Vixine. I am up and down health wise but otherwise OK :)

I am going to stick with Headspace but am in a bit of a quandry. My lovely friend has bought me Mindfulness for Health by Vidyamala Burch and Dr Danny Penman and right now it feels like following the 8 week course could be really helpful. I am mindful of following too many programmes at once though. I am already 9 months in to the year of training a wild elephant, on Day 15 of Take 20 so 25 days in to a year of Headspace.

Does anyone have an experience of balancing a couple of programmes?

I have been asking myself a similar question - and feeling like following an 8-week course may be good for me right now as well. I decided to work through Mindful Way Through Depression - I have had the book and CD for a while, and have used the audio but have not worked through the actual program. I feel like it might be a good time. I thought about trying to do that and keep up with Headspace also, but I know myself and personally would not find the time to do both. I have a hard enough time sticking with any one thing, as I keep demonstrating with all of my back-and-forth... :?

It's a case of finding what works isn't it.
I think I will struggle if I have too many things to remember at once, it is easy to get caught up in the list and the doing and find you are totally neglecting the being :)

My thoughts right now are to wait until the new year when I have completed the elephant book and then move on to the health and mindfulness programme. I want to be able to give it the time and attention it and I deserve. Finding what works is and not forcing ourselves into some regime because we think we should is a big part of self compassion and not striving I think. You are committed to finding what feels right for you :)

I've just done day 26. It occurs to me that despite not managing to do 'formal' practice every day, I have handled a very difficult week (that just ended with an exam in a different city) calmly. It's not been easy but I've noticed again how mindfulness has a positive impact on every part of my life - even when I'm not being mindful of that fact :D

That's great to hear! I get a taste of that every now and then, and other days not. It's always nice to hear those little ways it can impact us.

Thank you :) hopefully other people reading are finding it helpful too. Anyone is more than welcome to join in at any point :D

As we are nearly at the end of Take 20 Vixine, shall we stay on this thread or start a new one for the next bit?

Well since I'm not really doing Headspace right now, I can't contribute much. I would love to hear how you and anyone else is doing with it, and how the program progresses. I did purchase the year subscription and plan to go back to it after this 8-week program!
