I thought I'd start a lighthearted topic here - related to mindfulness of course.
Anybody noticed any little changes in themself brought about by mindfulness? These little things fascinate me.
I have noticed that I am much more able to suck a boiled sweet to the end without chomping it. I would have thought that the urge to chomp the sweet would be an automatic thing (a thought that would be difficult to notice). But these days I seem to be able to suck the sweet to the end nearly every time, whereas in the past, I used to chomp the sweet quite a lot.
Maybe I'm dreaming it.

This has the makings of a classic thread.
Quick 123 from me:
Noticing how "bad weather" is, more often than not, simply beautiful weather. It just is. Apologies to anyone caught up in the recent storms/floods. I'm living by the beach in Hove. Walking Banjo at 7am, rain on my face, wind in my hair, the almighty sea, perfect.
Waking up in the morning is so much different now. Before, it was, "What have I got to be worried and anxious about today?" Now, it's more, "A new day? I'm so blessed to be alive." Every moment is precious. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6PqRhDdeKDA
Listening to my favourite artist, Louis Armstrong. Just listening. Just me and the sound of Louis' immortal trumpet. Nothing between me and that sound. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=udWB3OKV9_k

"My libido has skyrocketed."
Glad to hear it, feller.
Curiously, Mr. Kabat-Zinn has remained silent re. the effect of mindfulness on the male libido.
I'll bet he's at it like a clockwork monkey though.

At the macroscopic level, a dramatic decrease in anxiety and an overall enhanced sense of ease.
At the microscopic level, I have grown to love the sound of raisins.

Oh the mental images. If you ever get to interview him Jon, make sure you ask
Gareth, the real test of mindfulness is whether you can have a fruit pastille and NOT chew. Or a sugared donut and not lick your lips. Hmmmm I feel like I should try these things out on behalf of the forum....
“Being mindful means that we take in the present moment as it is rather than as we would like it to be.”

"Oh the mental images…"
Happy to oblige.
The plan is to get Mark Williams in the interview bag by summertime and JKZ by the year's end.

Before mindfulness, many years ago as a young Mum, when my kids got hiper I would scream at them, I don't think it did them any harm, they turned out ok and now scream at their own kids. I on the other hand find i am more tuned in to my. Young grandkids and really listen to them , what they have to say is really imporant to them and i feel for them when their parents are irrated to be disrupted from adult conversation when they want something. That was me oncr! Cringe! It is a joy spending time with my grandkids and mindfulness came at the best time for me.
