A Tattoo Test for Mindfulness!

Post here if you have been practising for a while, and you are starting to get your head around what this is all about. Also post here if you are a long-term practitioner with something to say about the practice.

So. Next Saturday I am putting mindfulness to possibly it's biggest test so far. Next week I'm getting my first tattoo and I am terrified. :? I am doing it for charity though, not just to scare myself for a laugh. :D

Seriously though I am very nervous but I'm hoping and trusting mindfulness to help me keep calm and focused and in the moment. Fearing pain just makes it that much worse in my experience. I just wondered if anyone else had used mindfulness in a specific situation like this? I remember Jon posting about mindfulness helping him deal with the dentist a while ago :) I do use mindfulness often to deal with the myriad of medical tests and scans but I generally have a better idea of the level of pain and/or anxiety they provoke.

If anyone wants to read why I am doing this I have written about it all here

I have a symptom of my MS called trigeminal neuralgia, which is a short-lived but agonising pain in my face - it's really not very nice at all. Mindfulness really helps me with this pain when it comes around. It seems crazy that befriending the pain can actually work , but it really does.
