Choiceless Awareness - opening to the flow of life

Post here if you have been practising for a while, and you are starting to get your head around what this is all about. Also post here if you are a long-term practitioner with something to say about the practice.

Hi Scooter,
Have you tried first grounding yourself for about 20 mins. and then start with choiceless awareness? That works very well for me when my monkey mind is hyper active. I can recommend this exercise: The mindfulness of breathing (4 stages)

I have tried it before in the past but not recently. Normally I would either go straight into choiceless awareness or try maybe 5 minutes to ground myself. But thanks for the suggestion Peter, I will definitely give it a shot in the future.

I love this dialogue! Everything resonates deep within me. However, I feel like I get it cognitively, but my actual experience falls way short. Any thoughts?...

It takes a lot of practice, Mike. You mentioned being mindful about drinking coffee every afternoon. What other exercises make up your practice?
Cheers,
Jon

I do some sitting meditation, walking meditation, tai-chi & yoga. I started practicing about 5 years ago but remain very much a beginner. I'm thankful to come across this blog to learn from the experiences of others.

The ending of sorrow is realized in sorrow itself, not away from sorrow. To move away from sorrow is merely to find an answer, a conclusion, an escape; but sorrow continues. Whereas, if you give it your complete attention, which is to be attentive with your whole being, then you will see that there is an immediate perception in which no time is involved, in which there is no effort, no conflict; and it is this immediate perception, this choiceless awareness that puts an end to sorrow.
