I just want to say a big thank you for setting up this thread and the other ones on this book. You inspired me to buy the book and I've been reading it this morning and already learnt a ton. It's just brilliant how they show with brain science what is happening with meditation vs avoidance of symptoms etc. They explain things in a very clear way.

I am however disappointed to find that when I eat one piece of my favourite dark chocolate very mindfully, it tastes quite odd!!!! I'm noticing a bit of a trend - eat something processed mindfully and it doesn't taste great. Eat something natural mindfully and it's awesome. The cherry tomatoes I picked and ate mindfully from the garden were far superior to the chocolate!!!

I am in recovery from severe childhood trauma and am very thankful for the information in the opening chapters of the book. It really helps me to see how my brain developed with a huge bias towards avoidance of sensation etc, and why mindfulness has been hard for me to develop. And is very encouraging as now that I'm finally being able to be more accepting and mindful, things are changing.

I look forward to working through the book over the coming months, and very much appreciate you introducing me to it.

It's great to hear you are finding this so useful Betty :)
